Pat Preedy
Professor Pat Preedy (PhD, Med, Bed (Hons) is Executive Principal of GEMS Sherfield School (IBD qualified) and Chief Education Officer for GEMS UK.
Pat has had a long and distinguished career in education including being Head Teacher of a Beacon School for Twelve years and Chair of the Solihull Partnership of Schools. She completed her Masters in Educational Management particularly investigating how schools can work in partnership with parents and a doctorate in Education. Qualified with institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology, Pat has spearheaded several projects including Nursery and Early Years Education, Fit for Learning, Accelerated Learning, Performance Management and Special Needs. She was also part of the team that developed the performance indicators in primary schools value added baseline assessments (University of Durham CEM centre).
Pat is a Professor (Curtin University, Western Australia); visiting lecturer at the University of Winchester and member of the ISA Executive Board and Professional Development Committee. She is qualified as an Ofsted and ISI inspector and School Improvement Partner. In partnership with ISA, Pat has developed a ground breaking pathway for teachers and senior leaders to obtain additional qualifications up to Masters level.
As a respected adviser and consultant, she has worked extensively to develop global links in other areas of the world including the Middle East, North America, Europe and Australia.

Qualified at the University of Birmingham and a Professor at Curtin University (W. Australia), I have extensive experience of all age groups and contexts. I completed my Masters in Educational Management particularly investigating how schools can work in partnership with parents and my PhD is in twin studies. As headteacher of a Beacon School for twelve years, I spearheaded the development of several Projects in the areas of Accelerated Learning, Performance Management, Early Years Education and Special Needs.
I am Education Research Consultant for the Twins and Multiple Births Association (Tamba) and a past Chair of the Council of Multiple Births. My work at Curtin University involves working with Professor David Hay and Professor John Mascazine (Ohio University) in maintaining the multiple birth education website (www.twinsandmultiples.org). With over 100 000 hits per year, this is the primary resource for parents and professionals.
I was part of the team that developed the Performance Indicators In Primary Schools (PIPS) value added assessments (The University of Durham) and have also qualified as an Ofsted and ISI Inspector and School Improvement Partner. I am currently an ISI team inspector.
As Chief Education Officer for GEMS UK I am responsible for:
- liaison with Headteachers and identified employees, researching educational agendas and educational commonalities within the group; developing and sharing effective practice;
- updating the Schools Operating Manual (SOM);
- training;
- preparation for school inspections; liaison with inspections teams;
- curriculum analysis; co-ordinating educational benchmarks and the analysis of key data for monitoring and school improvement purposes.
I am also Executive Principal for Sherfield a co-educational IBO day and boarding school for pupils aged from 3 months to 18 years (www.sherfieldschool.co.uk).
Qualified at the Institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology (INPP) I am currently investigating the link between physical and cognitive development. With colleagues, I have developed a ‘Fit For Learning’ programme for babies and primary school pupils.
In partnership with the University of Winchester and ISA, I have developed a Masters qualification for senior leaders.
