The new
coaltion government is reviewing the legislation on SEN and disability discrimination. How will this affects your school and
teaching?
You may select from a menu of topics to suit your stage of development and
needs, e.g. the codes of practice, policy and practice, target setting and IEPs, dyslexic friendly classrooms,
differentiation, meeting individual needs, working with parents and preparing
for inspection.
The course actively engages the audience throughout as it seeks to develop
practical understanding of how best to meet the needs of pupils with barriers
to learning.
For example by the end of the day we will have:
- Received information about current legislation and codes of practice
- Reflected upon classroom practice
- Discussed pupils causing concern in your school
- Considered the learning needs of pupils with a particular focus on those with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
- Examined examples of pupil's work
- Received practical suggestions for meeting these individual needs in the classroom
